Vera Wang, Who?

When the FI and me registered, we had no intention of registering for china. The BBB salesperson talked us into it. I cared less about it, so I let FI flip through the book, told him to pick what he liked. Low and behold, my construction working, t-shirt wearing FI picked out one of the most expensive sets in the book. I looked at said:Me: That's Vera Wang china!!
Fi: Vera Wang, who??
Me: She's a very famous fashion designer, especially wedding dresses.
Fi: So why does she have china?
Me: Because she can.

We ended up registering for it that day and deleting online when we got home. I ended up getting my grandmothers china a few months later. I'd rather have something that has sentimental value anyway.

So Vera Wang has been the running joke of our wedding. He now talks about her like she is the "queen of weddings". If we don't get a cake server or toasting flutes at our shower, I plan on getting him these:

Did you get toasting flutes or cake servers at your shower? Did you already purchase them?
If so, any special significance to them?

First Class

Brunch is canceled. So now comes the fun (and expensive part) booking our flights.
Right now, our November flights would cost about $450.00 each for this:

Or, $700 each for this:

Due to the brunch being canceled we have the money for 1st class. I want to just book it now, but I'm afraid the fares are going to drop. Although, if we don't book now first class could get filled. I've never flown first class before and would love to experience it, especially as a newlywed.

Do I book now and who cares about price, it's our Honeymoon after all or do I wait it out?

Paper, Paper

I got this catalog at work today from
Paper Source Direct. They sell all kinds of stationary, brochure paper etc. While it's mostly aimed at business customers, they have some really neat things. The catalog was the fall edition, and since I love everything with fall leaves and trees...I was smitten.
So now, I'm trying to rack my brain and think if there is anything else I have left to print. And I don't. :(
I'm going to save the catalog anyway and maybe something will come up! :)

DIY Project Bathroom Baskets

When I first got engaged (almost 2 years ago), the one thing I knew I wanted was bathroom baskets. Sounds strange, I know..but I loved the idea of providing those items for guests. So, my super mom started collecting items and I made the 2 baskets.

I bought the baskets at Michael's and wrapped them with ribbon. (Gotta love the invention of the glue gun.) I added leaves to the bottom.

Items included in the basket are:

For men and women:
-breath mints and breath strips
-small band-aids
-tablet antacids like Tums
-safety pins
-individual packets of headache reliever
-pocket packs of tissues
-matchbooks
-travel bottle of hand sanitizer
-stain-removing wipes
-a small sewing kit
-dental floss

-wet wipes

-spray deodorant

For women only:
-a travel-size hair spray
-tampons and pads
-a bottle of clear nail polish
-bobby pins
-emery boards
-a packet of replacement earring backs
-hand lotion

I also printed a bathroom poem on gold paper and bought 2 small frames to put next to the baskets. Poem as follows:

So happy you’re here to share in our special day.

But should something happen to go astray,

Please help yourself to the contents within,

Wet wipe, hand lotion, and even aspirin.

Use only what you need and leave the rest,

It may also be useful to another guest.

So repair the damage that may have been done,

Then hurry on back and join in the fun!

Compliments of Michelle & Jeffrey

All in all, it was a fun and easy project and I love the way they turned out.
Are you doing bathroom baskets?

To Brunch or Not to Brunch

That is the question.
We had decided to do a day-after-wedding brunch, instead of a rehearsal dinner. Our wedding is on a Friday and about 45 min - 60 min drive for most people. To be fair, we didn't want to make people drive on a Thursday and again on Friday.
Well, I did the invitations for the brunch last weekend so I should have known there would be drama this week.
There is an issue of who to invite. Fi and I said anyone whoever would have been invited to the rehearsal dinner, would be invited to the brunch. Turns out ettiquite says we have to invite everyone staying at the hotel overnight. Well.. we just can not afford that. We can barely afford to invite FI's extended family who will freak if not invited to this. (Although, they would not have been invited to the rehearsal dinner.)

The options are:
1. invite wedding party and Immediate family only
2. invite above and Fi's extended family
3. forget the whole thing, take the $1200 budgeted for this event and fly first class to our honeymoon

I called my wedding planner yesterday and left a message to make sure we can cancel the brunch with no penalty.
If this is case, I am really leaning towards option #3.
I'm in this funk where I feel as if I've tried so hard to "do the right thing" throughout this entire process and those decisions have caused more drama!

What do you think? First class sounds really nice at this point.

Great Bathrobes

Check them out here.

I've been a horrible blogger, I've been too busy reading everyone else's blogs to post in mine. :)
I did want to post about these Awesome bathrobes and blankets. I received them as a Christmas gift one year and they are the Softest things I have ever felt. Putting on that bathrobe, or curling up in the blanket just makes me feel better. They have quite a hefty price tag at $134 for the robe and $130 for the blanket but they are soon worth it.
But as a MOH gift, or MOB or MOG.. might be worth it!
